WHEN DID YOU START WITH JOST CONSTRUCTION? I started Jost Construction back in 2008 and have had so many highs and lows. From building 10,000 square foot houses, which I never dreamed I would be able to do, to poor business decisions that almost cost me everything. For 17 years now this business has never been easy but always been interesting and I’ve taken something from every success and even more from every failure.

HOW MANY YEARS IN CONSTRUCTION? I’ve been around the trades my entire life. My father was an electrician when I was young so I never been a stranger to a job site. I hired on with my first company at 15 years old and have now been this awesome industry for 27 years.

CONSTRUCTION BACKGROUND: As far back as I can remember I’ve been building. My first “tree house” was about 4 feet off the ground and I was 8 when I built it. It was really just something that resembled a platform nailed to a tree trunk but I was 8 and it was awesome, and then I caught the building bug. 7 years and quite a few minor projects later my dad got me a summer job with a home builder. That summer was the most fun I’ve ever had (at work). I fell in love with building that summer. I spent a couple of years on the residential end of construction and decided I wanted to see what commercial construction was all about. Over the following 8 years I worked under some of the best superintendents and project managers this area has. The knowledge they so graciously left me with, and by graciously, I mean scolded me at every turn, has led me to where we are today. 27 years of building experience in both residential and commercial in this beautiful Texas Hill Country has given me the opportunity to work alongside and learn from some of the best the business.

OUTSIDE INTERESTS: My wife and I love to find Micro Breweries, well…. everywhere! Maybe it’s the traveling or getting to spend time with her but those trips are something I really look forward to. Our daughter keeps us pretty busy the rest of the time with sports and being Dad is pretty awesome. My son works side by side with me here at Jost Construction and that is something I’m proud of. Any free time I can come up with I’ll be reading, running, or working on making Jost Construction the best construction company in the Hill Country.

CURRENT POSITION: Project Manager

HOMETOWN: Huntsville, TX /Albert, TX I had the blessings of growing up with two sets of wonderful parents! With that Ill say I have two hometowns. I went to Huntsville Independent School District throughout the school year and during the Summer I got to run around the Fredericksburg Independent School District but at a different capacity “helping” my dad.

HOW MANY YEARS IN CONSTRUCTION? 11 Years Professionally

CONSTRUCTION BACKGROUND: My Construction experience started as a child! I was raised as I said by two sets of parents...being raised on ranches in Texas I grew up stretching fence (Pine Trees don't care about fences), building deer blinds, welding/grinding pipe fence, fixing cattle guards, and developing water collection systems and resources for wildlife/livestock. After I became a legal adult, I wasn't sure of what life plans I had. As I said most of what I grew up doing was on a ranch...I went to college for a year and decided I would join the Army. Prior to departing, I chose to become a Horizontal Construction Engineer. Over the span of 9 years, I held a variety of roles across multiple organizations and leadership levels. During my service I learned framing, bridging, road construction, material procurement, scheduling, personnel management, as well as reports spanning from Material on site, Fuel consumption of equipment, risk assessments, and many more. During the different positions I worked in or led, I continued education within the Construction Industry to better prepare myself like OSHA 30 as well as seeking my PMP certification. Fast forward to today I'm on the project sites and within the office, still learning every day with a wonderful team on the planning and preparation phase going out to execute client’s vision!

OUTSIDE INTERESTS: I love to get out and hunt during the season, enjoy the hill country views on our family ranch in in Albert, and I’ll admit my wife Courtney and I love to sit in and enjoy “The Hye Society” at William Chris vineyards.
